Balance and Brawn

Empowering student athletes: Success in college and beyond.

My Experience in College

My name is Ella Cheminant. I am a Senior at Westminster University. I am a communication major and play on the women’s lacrosse team. I’ve been playing lacrosse since about 4th grade and decided to continue playing in college. I’ve learned a lot over the years and want to use my knowledge and experience to help others have a good experience with school and athletics.

Why I write:

My last three years of college have been a wild ride, and they taught me how to balance many things, such as my time, money, and effort. If you’ve heard the saying “academic weapon,” then let me tell you how important it is to be that. Doing well in college is extremely important, especially when it comes to getting your money’s worth. Going to class and doing your assignments all help benefit you in the long run. I didn’t think school was that important when I first arrived; I was there only because I wanted to play the sport I love. Now, it’s flipped, and I prioritize school over my sport. However, it’s about balance and brawn. I strive to improve on and off the field by doing my assignments and working out to do well in my sport. I write because I hope that new students can better understand what it’s like to be a student-athlete and what is expected in college.
